Sea Island restaurants to discover

River Bar & Lounge

Located in The Cloister resort, the River Bar & Lounge serves European and French fare in a casual atmosphere perfect for those looking for a lighter meal. You’ll find spectacular views whether you sit at the bar or choose a more private dining experience at a table. The River Bar & Lounge is open for brunch, lunch, and dinner. If you visit before 5 p.m., casual dress is acceptable, and you can expect to dine on sandwiches, salads, and soups. Some standouts are the Croque monsieur and autumn squash salad. A collared shirt is expected if you plan to dine in the evening. Though reservations aren’t taken, you can usually get a seat if you arrive early. Pick from seafood bouillabaisse, steak frites, or butter chicken, and enhance your meal with a glass of wine or a seasonal craft cocktail like “The Black Widow” Bols Genever, Tattersall Bitter Orange, basil, lime, absinthe, and orange bitters. Each craft cocktail has its own backstory to make it even more special.

Colt & Allison

If you want lovely views of the golf course to complement fantastic steaks while you take a break from looking for Sea Island homes sale, you need to put Colt & Allison on your list. Located in The Lodge at Sea Island Golf Club, this classic steakhouse offers an intimate dining experience perfect for a date night or a relaxing meal after a long day outdoors. Reservations are required at this upscale establishment, and their dress code is strictly enforced, so this is not the place to go if you want a casual meal in your shorts and tank top. In addition to their chilled seafood, steaks that are wet-aged for 30 days, and innovative accents and accompaniments, Colt & Allison also has a spectacular wine cellar. If you’re looking for a special dinner, you can reserve the wine cellar for a private dining experience that includes featured selections from the dinner menu paired with the perfect wines.

Southern Tide

When you’re looking at Sea Island homes for sale, you can’t miss a chance to dine oceanside at least once during your trip. At Southern Tide, you can look out over the Atlantic and Sea Island Beach as you enjoy fresh seafood prepared with a Southern twist. Reservations are recommended at Southern Tide, but you can show up in your casual beach clothes. Relax and dig into a lunch of crispy fried calamari, fish tacos, or seafood gumbo. If you’re in the mood for a snack and a happy hour drink, you can get some smashed avocado dip and a jalapeño-mango margarita. For dinner, choose from the fresh seafood market menu or opt for an entrée like the seafood fettucini, Georgia shrimp basket, or pan-seared triple tail served with sautéed bok choy and coconut-pineapple rice smothered in coconut red curry sauce.

Oak Room

Southern comfort food is always on the menu when you plan to eat at the Oak Room, located in The Lodge. Featuring a relaxed tavern-like setting, the Oak Room is the perfect choice if you want to lounge by a rustic fireplace underneath leather ceilings. If you plan to come in for lunch, casual attire is welcome, but a dress code is enforced after 5 p.m. If you visit early in the day, you can sample the Oak Room Nachos, blackened Mahi sandwich, or a cup of seafood chowder. If you decide to dress up and come for dinner, indulge in red Inca quinoa cakes, grilled red snapper, or a boneless rib-eye with chimichurri sauce served with succotash or classic mac and cheese. The Oak Room also has a full wine list, craft beers, and featured cocktails like the “Revenge of the Altamaha” (mezcal, green chartreuse, St. Germain, lime, pineapple, and basil). The Oak Room is also open for Sunday brunch if you’re craving French toast or a Southern Benedict.

Tavola

After a long day of looking at Sea Island real estate, it’s time to relax with the family at the charming Tavola, located in The Cloister. Serving Italian food with plenty of Southern hospitality, Tavola recommends reservations and has a dress code after 5 p.m. (casual attire is permitted before dinner). You can stop in to sample the breakfast buffet or reserve a table for dinner, so you can fill up on Napolitano pizza, chicken parmigiana, or classic pasta dishes. If you want to mark a special occasion, Tavola has a full wine list and classic and craft cocktails.
